National Women's Show
National Women's ShowThe Toronto Convention Center was filled with enthusiasm on October 23-25 as women of all ages filed in for the 2009 National Women's Show. The show was a fantastic outing, offering tips on fashion, beauty, wellness, food and fitness, as well as travel, leisure and business advice.

Floral designer Albert Graves' daily presentations got women out of their seats! Women were so eager for the chance to win one of his floral masterpieces that they found themselves screaming, cheering and even dancing on their chairs. Albert, a strong supporter of the pickOntario campaign, used all locally grown flowers in his arrangements.  Click here to see Albert in action!

The thick, fleshy foliage remains attractive however, and flower enthusiasts may want to keep their specimen for the next blooming cycle.

Featured Grower -George Sant & Sons Greenhouse

George Sant Greenhouses

Over the past several years George Sant & Sons has grown to become a renowned name as a supplier to growers of exciting new plant materials throughout Canada and the United States.

As an international force in supplying plugs and cuttings for the lucrative new annual market, most particularly developing varieties that were formerly offered exclusively in Europe and performed well in gardens there. George Sant & Sons also offer their own varieties as "Patent Partners" and are a supplier to the North American Industry. Operations at GEORGE SANT & SONS occupy 7 acres of covered, heated greenhouses on 85 acres of property in Kleinburg, just north of Toronto, Canada.
The evaluation of individual varieties is an on-going process from cutting stage through to stock plants and trial gardens.

The brothers Dan, Rick and Ron Sant work as an effective, third generation resident team. Their grandfather, Angelo Sant's market-gardening business opened over 70 years ago in Toronto, Canada. Relocating to the present site in 1947 with son George, Sant's Greenhouses enjoy offering new and exciting varieties to those retailers who wish to continue to work to develop a niche in an increasingly sophisticated market for gardeners hungry for new introductions with Garden Performers.
