Pink Flowers Decorate the Stage for Steinberg's $2 Million Gift Announcement to Hospital – 05/25/2009

The theme was pink this past Saturday at North York Hospital as pickOntario showed up to celebrate the generous donation towards breast cancer treatment technology.

The announcement was made May 25th that the $2 million gift from Charlotte and Lewis Steinberg would be used to buy the state-of-the-art digital mammography machine with tomosynthesis technology. Tomosynthesis is the latest innovation in breast cancer screening and diagnosis, improving the chances for early detection and identifying breast cancer tumours as small as a few millimetres.

North York General Hospital is the first Ontario hospital to purchase digital mammography machines with tomosynthesis as it was approved for use in Canada in March 2009.

pickOntario was delighted to provide the flowers for the stunning floral arrangements used to decorate the stage for the announcement. The bouquets included gerberas, stargazer lilies, hydrangeas, roses and other fresh Ontario grown flowers.

It is wonderful that the Steinberg’s are making such a substantial contribution to help Canadians and the rest of the world stay on the leading edge of the fight against breast cancer.
